On Jan. 3, at approximately 7:45 am., members of the Bennington Rural Fire Department and Bennington Fire Department responded to a multiple alarm fire at LaFlammes, a furniture and appliance store located on Route 7A in the Town of Bennington.
Below zero temperatures, wind and snow hampered the efforts of responding firefighters.
The fire spread quickly through the building requiring mutual aid assistance from surrounding fire departments in New York and Massachusetts.
It took several hours to bring the blaze under control but, the building and all of its contents were deemed a total loss.
