Denver FF Accused of Secretly Recording Colleague

April 5, 2019
The suspected firefighter—a 27-year veteran—retired after he was placed on leave following the allegations, and investigators fear there might be more victims.

A Denver firefighter suspected of surreptitiously recording images of a female colleague has left the department and the alleged incident is being investigated by police.

The firefighter suspected of invading his co-worker’s privacy was placed on leave when the allegations came to light, pending an internal investigation, but he retired the following day, said Capt. Greg Pixley, a fire department spokesman.

The victim found a “recording device” at about midnight Saturday, in her sleeping area, and immediately brought it to the attention of a supervisor, Pixley said.

“This is not who we are, or what we stand for,” said Pixley of the alleged incident.

On Monday the suspect, a 27-year veteran of the department, retired. Fire officials, who are cooperating with the police investigation, are concerned that there may be additional victims.
