The popular LiquidSpring smart suspension upgrade is now available on all four corners as an integrated system on select fire-rescue and EMS chassis.

The popular LiquidSpring smart suspension upgrade is now available on all four corners as an integrated system on select chassis. This makes four-corner kneeling a new possibility. LiquidSpring’s CLASS® suspension system was initially offered as a rear-only suspension. From variable loading weights to impacts passed along the frame from front to back, the front suspension provides significant support to the chassis and system. All front-wheel suspension systems must be accompanied by a matching rear suspension system for connectivity.

Four-corner kneeling is especially appreciated by senior and infirm family and passengers who ride along in the front seat of an ambulance. Lower step height improves access for these riders. It also speeds up access for the driver and passengers by eliminating loading delays.

Besides four-corner kneeling, what does the optional front suspension upgrade offer? It provides further improvement to ride and handling by absorbing more vibration. It also notably provides even more driver comfort by reducing fatigue from rough roads and long hauls. The front suspension, being underneath the driver, is a large contributor to the shaking sensation felt through the seat and steering wheel of the vehicle. LiquidSpring’s improved absorption of these forces reduces felt vibrations significantly, giving drivers a more luxurious and safer feel to the ride.

Another unique advantage provided is four-wheel overheight capability. The opposite of kneeling, overheight offers maximum ground clearance while at slower speeds. It allows the vehicle to clear road obstacles such as minor debris or rough road conditions. Gravel roads which have been washed out by rain are a common situation in rural areas. The deep ruts in the road surface require more height to clear the changes in the road level without bottoming out. Both front and back suspension height have pre-set heights options to help give drivers more control in these difficult situations.
