The most important objective an Incident Commander can focus on is that of firefighter safety! To assist in this very important challenge, they must master the chemistry of fire. Understanding the reactions of the various chemicals will have on a fire during the combustion process is essential for the safety of the firefighters. Readers will learn what to look for when dealing with the three types of matter...solids, liquids and gases.

The drill is designed to be a single page of information to conjure up discussions among your crew members. Sit down and talk about the exercises, and how they may apply to your company. But, just don't read them. Get moving. Head to an appropriate area and train.

Post the information in prominent places in your stations so it's readily available for review.
