Waterous has released a separable impeller shaft for its line of fire pumps. The design allows for the separation of pump and chain case for ease of repair and is available on CM/CS Series split shaft pumps.

The design has sealed outboard ball bearings rather than a bushing style auto-lube support system.
The advantages include eliminating the need to remove the entire pump and transmission from the apparatus for service, saving time any money on repairs enabling the apparatus to be back in service quicker.
