A blown out tire is believed to have caused a crash involving a ladder truck that left three Pana Fire & EMS firefighters injured Friday.
Pana firefighters were responding to a structure fire just before 9 a.m. on a mutual aid request from the Nokomis Fire Department when the driver of Ladder 2 reported that the apparatus pulled to the right.
"He struggled trying to keep control but the vehicle went off the road on the north side and into a steep deep ditch causing the truck to flip onto it's passenger side," the fire department wrote in a statement on their Facebook page.
The three firefighters on board were able to kick out the front windshield and self-extricate.
Chief Rod Bland said the firefighters were wearing seat belts and that lead to them suffering only minor injuries.
They were transported to the hospital for evaluation.
