A collision with a Florida fire apparatus on its way to a call left a man critically injured Wednesday.
The incident involved a Clay County Fire Rescue rig and a pickup truck in Middleburg, WGFL-TV reports. The apparatus was responding to an emergency with its lights and siren on when the pickup failed to stop at an intersection and slammed into the right side of the fire engine.
The impact of the collision ejected the 34-year-old pickup driver, who wasn't wearing his seat belt, onto the roadway. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
No firefighters were injured in the accident.
