Firefighter Ejected in Rollover Crash at AK Wildfire

The Alaska Division of Forestry firefighter was ejected after the vehicle rolled while responding to the Munson Creek Fire.

An Alaska Division of Forestry firefighter was listed in serious condition Saturday night after the vehicle he was in rolled over while responding to the Munson Creek Fire.

The firefighter was alone in the vehicle when it left the road and overturned several times in Chena Hot Springs around 5:20 p.m. 

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained extensive injuries, according to the Alaska Division of Forestry. He was the only one in the vehicle.

Fire and EMS crews working the Munson Creek Fire responded to the crash and a helicopter from Fairbanks Area Forestry flew the firefighter to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

The firefighter was then flown to Providence Medical Center in Anchorage where he was listed in serious but stable condition Sunday.

The cause of the crash is under investigation
