CA Hot Shots Vehicle Involved in Fatal Crash

Nine Mill Creek fire station hot shots were injured in the crash that involved their vehicle and two others in the San Bernardino mountains.

Mar. 9—One person died, and several others were injured on Saturday, March 9, in a collision involving a U.S. Forest Service vehicle in the San Bernardino Mountains.

A Mill Creek Station fire vehicle carrying nine firefighters, who serve in the Front Country Ranger district and are known as hotshots, collided with two civilian vehicles on Highway 38 at around 12:48 p.m., said Gustavo Bahena, a San Bernardino National Forest public affairs specialist.

All nine fire crew members suffered injuries and were evacuated for medical treatment.

One of the civilians in one of the other two vehicles died, Bahena said.

Information on the conditions of the fire crew members was not immediately released.

Bahena said the California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

CHP logs showed the crash happened at Valley of the Falls Drive.
