Three Los Angeles County firefighters suffered minor injuries when the engine overturned onto its side.

Three firefighters sustained minor injuries after a fire engine overturned onto its side in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening, Nov. 3, outside Azusa, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol responded around 5:35 p.m. after the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that one of its engines overturned on Highway 39 ( San Gabriel Canyon Road), north of Azusa and near the San Gabriel Reservoir, said Officer Erik Larsen, a CHP spokesperson.

Engine 32 firefighters were responding to a cliff rescue when the engine overturned onto its side, the fire department said.

Three firefighters were transported to a hospital with minor injuries, LA County Fire said.

A SigAlert was in effect for several hours as a heavy-duty tow truck worked to remove the engine from the area, Larsen said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
