Civilian Charged for Deadly Ambulance Wreck in Forsyth County, NC

The 92-year-old patient being transported by Forsyth County EMS died of injuries sustained in the March wreck.

A Jeep driver has been cited in connection with a crash last month that left an ambulance patient dead.

The Forsyth County EMS ambulance was headed to a hospital on March 11 when the Jeep crossed the center line and hit the ambulance.

Omer Pope, 92, the patient, was pronounced dead at the scene. It was determined after an autopsy that he died of injuries suffered in the wreck, WXII reported. 

The EMS crew suffered injuries in the wreck.

Diane Langford, 52, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to maintain lane control. 

The Winston-Salem Police Department handled the investigation.
