Marion County, OR, Brush Truck Rolls En Route to Wildfire
Two firefighters from Marion County Fire District #1 were injured Wednesday when their fire apparatus rolled over responding to a wildfire.
The Type 6 apparatus was enroute to the Town Gulch Fire as part of the Clackamas County Task Force when it rolled on State Highway 86, near Baker City, OR, the Salem Reporter published.
Marion County Battalion Chief Mark Bjorkland told the Salem Reporter that the fire truck came in contact with gravel before going down an embankment. The firefighters self-extricated from the rig.
The two firefighters were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
"Today two Marion County Fire District personnel received non-life threatening injuries in a single vehicle incident while being deployed on a conflagration. Both personnel are being treated at this time. We are thankful for the Oregon State Fire Marshal and the Oregon State Police for assisting our personnel in these stressful times," a post from the fire district stated.
The fire has burned thousands of acres in Baker County, east of Baker City.
"We remain committed to the safety of our personnel, both at home and when responding to help those threatened by wildfire throughout the state," the State Fire Marshal's Office released in a statement.
