Man Shoots at Rowan County, NC, EMS Crew, Steals Fire Department Vehicle

A Rowan County medic suffered an arm injury in a fall as he ran for cover.

A call for a man suffering a medical emergency ended with the EMS crew diving to avoid gunfire and the theft of a fire department vehicle in Rowan County.

When medics quickly determined that their unconscious patient was likely impaired, they  decided to wait for police.

The patient woke up and fired a shot at the medics who ran for cover. One suffered an arm injury in a fall, WSOC reported.

Miguel Angel Ramirez then jumped into an Atwell Fire Department pickup truck and sped away. 

The truck struck a car before going into a nearby soybean field. 

Authorities found a gun in the field after taking Ramirez into custody.
