A Long Beach fire truck struck and killed a man early Tuesday as it pulled out of the station.
Firefighters immediately rendered aid, but the man was pronounced dead on the apron.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the individual involved. In addition, our crews are also undergoing critical incident stress management to also deal with the challenges and the trauma associated with this tragic incident," Capt. Jake Heflan told KABC.
It is unknown if the rig's lights and siren were activated.
The crash remains under investigation.
