Job Description
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opening for a full-time Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief position at the Garyville Refinery who will report to the Fire Chief.
Responsibilities:
Training
Serve as instructor for classroom and hands-on fire, hazmat, and rescue training Conduct First Aid, AED, and CPR training
Drills
Conduct Fire, Hazmat, Medical, Rescue and Oil Spill drills
Emergency Response
Fulfill the roll of the Fire Chief in their absence
Provide off shift medical care coverage under the direction of the MPC Medical Department within the scope of practice of an Emergency Medical Technician- EMT/Advanced/Paramedic
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Willing to work in hot environments which includes physical activity and heavy lifting
Work 12 hour scheduled shifts
Skills:
Self-motivated, good time management, and mechanically inclined
Formal presentations of training material via hands on and classroom Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Experienced in operations of emergency response boat
Minimal Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Fire Department leadership role experience required - 5 or more years as a Company Officer or higher
National Registry or Louisiana EMT
NFPA 472 – Hazardous Materials Technician (OSHA 1910:120)
NFPA 1002 – Apparatus Driver/Pump Operator
NFPA 1006 – Rope Rescue I NFPA 1021 – Fire Officer I
NFPA 1081 or 1001– Advanced Exterior and Interior or Firefighter II
NFPA 1401 – Instructor I NIMS – 100, 200, 300, 700
A Driver's License is required
Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) will be required upon hire
Preferred Qualifications:
National Registry Paramedic OR Louisiana Paramedic
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science/Engineering/Administration
