DELAWARE CITY, DEL. – The number of volunteer fire and recue personnel continues to dwindle across the country.
But, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) isn’t sitting idly by talking about it.
They’ve soft launched a new website to assist departments with their recruitment effort.
NVFC Legislative Chief Dave Finger told members of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association (CVVFA) he hopes they will list their needs on their website.
In November, the NVFC will promote the recruitment effort to the public.
In addition to listing the vacancies, departments are being encouraged to share programs as well, explained Kimberly Quiros, NVFC chief of communications.
“We also will have links to other data bases that may be of help,” she said, adding that the NVFC is excited about the opportunity to assist with the recruitment and retention effort.
Finger told CVVFA members not only to share the word but participate in the project.
