A Maryland volunteer fire department will be offering a free meal to employees affected by the U.S. government shutdown.
Furloughed government workers and contractors can get a free spaghetti dinner sponsored by the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department on Jan. 31. The meal will be prepared by the department's "firehouse chefs."
"While we understand it isn't much considering the circumstances, we figure it is the least we can do to show you all our support, and be able to give back to you," the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department said in a statement announcing the dinner.
The spaghetti dinner will be served from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Dunkirk's fire station at 3170 W. Ward Road. Go to the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page or call Safety Officer Donald Gibson at 443-404-9814 for more information about the dinner.
