Boston Firefighter Needs Help Finding Missing Helmet

Jan. 25, 2019
The firefighter's RESCUE 2 helmet disappeared recently while he was working a technical rescue on the Muddy River.

A Boston firefighter is asking for help after his RESCUE 2 helmet went missing during a call.

Firefighter Brian Mullen discovered that the helmet — made of red leather, with a crack in the "2" and a medal inside the band — was gone while he was working a recent technical rescue on the Muddy River, according to a post on the Facebook page for Boston Sparks Association, a nonprofit, self-described "fire buff club" that was started in 1938.

"The helmet is very personal to every firefighter," the post stated. "It protects him or her from falling objects and could be a life saver when a FF needs to break a window and evacuate a room or building."

If found, the missing helmet can be left at any Boston, Brookline or Cambridge fire station. And anyone with information about the helmet can call the Boston Fire Department at 617-343-3415.
