CA Firefighters Design T-Shirt to Honor Military

May 14, 2019
It's the third year the Redlands Fire Department has worn military appreciation shirts. Two captains with military service are responsible for this year's design.

Redlands Fire Department personnel are honoring the military this month by donning commemorative T-shirts designed by fellow firefighters.

This is the third year on-duty personnel have worn military appreciation shirts, each year with a different design.

This year’s design was created by Firefighter/Paramedic Rich Hurtado; Capt. Dempsey Chappell, a former U.S. Marine; and Capt. Mike Howard, who served in the Navy.

The shirts include an image of U.S. Marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima during World War II.

For the last six Octobers Redlands firefighters have also been wearing commemorative shirts for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
