The 500-square-foot mural will show the history of the Philadelphia Fire Department, and attendees Wednesday will be able to paint parts of it.

A mural to honor the Philadelphia Fire Department will be unveiled this week.

Artist Eric Okdeh will show his design for the 500-square-foot artwork Wednesday as part of the Wawa Welcome America in the city, WCAU-TV reports. Okdeh has been working on the mural for nearly two months, and it will be displayed next to Ladder 2 Fire Station, near the Fireman's Hall Museum.

The mural will depict the history of the Philadelphia Fire Department and is expected to be completed by the fall. One unique aspect: Those attending the unveiling of the mural's design will be able to paint parts of it.

"It’s the real thing. They’re actually painting the mural,” Okdeh told WCAU.
