The Sun Prairie post office will now be named after Capt. Cory Barr, who was killed in a gas explosion last year that leveled buildings and injured two other firefighters.

A bill renaming a Wisconsin post office after a firefighter killed in an explosion last year was signed by President Trump on Thursday.

The Sun Prairie post office will now be named after Capt. Cory Barr, The Associated Press reports. Barr was killed by a gas explosion that leveled several buildings and also injured two other firefighters.

The post office renaming was created by bipartisan legislation in the U.S. Senate and Congress that was introduced in April.

"Captain Cory Barr paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect Sun Prairie residents and save lives," Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Madison) said at the time. "His public service should be honored and his commitment to the safety of his neighbors and the community will always be remembered."
