Hundreds of first responders turned out to support the daughter of a Los Angeles County firefighter killed in a station shooting as she graduated from high school Thursday.
Joslyn Carlon wore her slain father's turnout gear over her robe as she accepted her diploma from Sagus High School to thunderous applause at the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, KABC-TV reports. Tory Carlon, 44, was fatally shot by a fellow firefighter at the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Agua Dulce station Tuesday in an incident that also critically injured a 54-year-old fire captain.
"To honor that beautiful girl tonight meant so much to me, to all my colleagues and my friends," firefighter-paramedic Gary Reichman told KABC.
Joslyn and her family were greeted by several hundred firefighters, who lined the entrance to the graduation dressed in black uniforms. After receiving her diploma, Joslyn was escorted from the stage by a sheriff's deputy who also was a friend of the family.

"He was a brave, committed, loyal member of our department," Fire Chief Daryl Osby said of Tory Carlon following Tuesday's shooting.
Although the shooting is still under investigation, officials believe the incident stemmed from a workplace dispute between Carlon and the shooter that had escalated over time. Details have not been released concerning what that dispute was about.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help the Carlon family, and it has already raised more than $195,000 of its $200,000 goal.
