FEMA Opens SAFER Grant Application Period

The application period for FEMA's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) FY21 grant program is now open.

The application period for FEMA's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER) FY21 program is now open and will close on Friday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m. ET

FEMA has provided a wealth of resources to help fire chiefs and chief officers prepare for the application process. You can get started and begin planning for your grant application by reviewing the by reviewing the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) on the AFG website.

There is also a Fire Grants Help Desk available if you have questions about the NOFO. The toll-free phone number for the help desk is 1-866-274-0960, and you can also make contact via e-mail at [email protected]. The Fire Grants Help Desk is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. ET.

For applicants interested in learning how to apply for funding under the SAFER program, FEMA is also hosting a series of workshops covering the application process. These workshop will outline important information and reminders about cost share requirements, program priorities, eligible costs, how to navigate the grant application, and tips for preparing an AFG application.
