Davie County officials sent a notice to Advance Fire Department of their intent to terminate a contract to house personnel at their fire station.

Officials with Davie County sent a notice to the Advance Fire Department’s fire chief that they will be terminating an agreement to house crews at one of their stations after reports of “unprofessional behavior.”

Davie County EMS houses staff, a transport unit, supplies and equipment at Advance Fire Station 12.

A letter from Davie County Manager David Bone to Advance Fire Chief Rodney Miller on Jan. 21 cited multiple reports of "unprofessional behavior witnessed by Davie County EMS staff at the Fire Department by AFD personnel and/or their guests." Bone indicated those actions as the reason behind the decision, according to a report by WXII 12.

Bone's letter highlighting the “inappropriate actions” included, unwanted physical touching, visitors allowed in the upstairs staff bedroom, production of alcohol in the station and loud, late-night noise.

In a statement, Advance Fire Department officials said they will investigate and take prompt remedial action if timely, substantiated allegations of improper conduct are brought to its attention. "We are focused on moving forward to continue to fulfill our mission of public safety. We will continue to work cooperatively and in partnership with the County to protect the health and safety of Davie County citizens," the statement read.

After discussions between the agencies, a resolution was reached to relocate the Davie County EMS crew to the old Advance Fire Station Number Two.
