FL FFs Future Uncertain after Recent Legislative Action
Firefighters with the Reedy Creek Fire Department are looking for answers after recent legislative actions to the dissolve the Reedy Creek Improvement District may impact their jobs.
Officials with the Reedy Creek Improvement District held a call with firefighters Monday afternoon for less than ten minutes and firefighters were not allowed to ask questions, according to a report by WFTV 9 News.
Union officials said a Reedy Creek administrator told firefighters to continue to perform their duties and not to speak on behalf of the district.
The district and the union representing firefighters have struggled with issues including staffing and other safety concerns.
Recent dust ups have revolved around issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic and staffing levels that have remained the same when the parks continue to grow.
Firefighters were told the fire chief would be doing station visits to address concerns and answer questions, but are unsure when that would take place, according to WFTV.
