A 22-year-old firefighter has been charged with embezzling money from the Belvedere Fire Company in Delaware.
Tyree N. Williams is accused of bilking the company of $38.000, delaware online reported.
He is accused of creating checks for two former employees and depositing them in his bank accounts in two different banks.
When fire officials noticed the improper account issues, they contacted the Delaware State Police.
Williams was charged with misuse of computer systems to steal more than $10,000, theft and falsifying business records. Released on his own recognizance, he is scheduled for preliminary hearing Thursday.
He is the second firefighter from the department to make headlines recently.
Last week, former Deputy Chief Dwayne L. Pearson Jr., 40, was convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl.
He has not been sentenced.
