The annual event -- also open to men -- was slated to be held in May at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg.

The annual training seminar -- sponsored by Women in Fire -- at the National Fire Academy has been axed by Trump.

The event, which was open to both men and women, was scheduled for May 17 and 18 at the Emmitsburg, MD campus, the home of the U.S. Fire Administration, the National Fire Academy and the site of the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial.

"Your National Fire Academy regrets any inconvenience caused by this decision which follows DHS policy consistent and compliant with all applicable Executive Orders," according to the cancellation notice sent Wednesday.

Women in Fire officials issued a statement after the class was pulled.

"While we are proud to have sponsored the weekend training, we recognize that we do not have control over the USFA, the National Fire Academy or the directives stemming from executive orders."

"Our mission remains steadfast to insure that everyone, regardess of background or circumstances, has the opportunity to succed in fire and emergency services. Although we are saddened by the cancellation, we are choosing to focus on the positive opportunities we can control."

We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate this situation. Our leadership team is dedicated to providing timely updates and insuring that our information remains accurate."
