Williams Fire & Hazard Control Inc., part of Tyco Fire Protection Products, announced it is the first commercial company to provide university curriculum through its partnership with Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and its world-renowned firefighter academy.
The partnership between Williams and the nation’s leading fire protection school makes Williams the only company of its kind in the industry to receive third-party certification for a training course. The partnership will incorporate a combination of both TEEX and Williams courses to educate trainees at the Williams operational facility in Port Arthur and TEEX students.

Williams originated in 1980 and has been on the front line of some of the country’s major industrial fires, including the largest successfully extinguished tank fire in U.S. history. The company specializes in industrial fire response and has substantial experience in fire prevention training involving liquid, gas and hazardous chemicals.

The collaboration will permit Williams to conduct NFPA Pro Board-certified courses utilizing the TEEX curriculum and accreditation process, offering students nationally recognized third-party accreditation. TEEX has authorized Williams to offer NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I and NFPA 472 Bulk Storage Certification courses, with more planned for the future. In addition, TEEX has recognized the following courses in the Williams curriculum:

Williams Fire & Hazard Control Industrial Response Logistics
Williams Fire & Hazard Control Pump Operations
Williams plans to expand this opportunity to customers by hosting onsite training sessions. Williams will also provide the course to Pemex, the Mexican petroleum company.
