Texas-based EMS software company MedaPoint, Inc. announces that they have achieved NEMSIS version 3 compliance for the company’s newly released AdvanceCare ePCR (electronic patient care report) solution.
NEMSIS stands for National Emergency Medical Services Information System. While many statewide data systems have been created over the decades, the systems have varied in quality and in data sets collected. The NEMSIS project was developed in a national effort to standardize the data collected by EMS agencies for improved reporting, enhanced data exchange between EMS providers and hospitals, and better patient outcomes.
MedaPoint’s AdvanceCare ePCR is among the few that has successfully completed the rigorous challenge of obtaining NEMSIS 3 certification, meaning that it is among ePCR solutions that may be purchased by EMS agencies to document patient care encounters, and to automatically export compliant ePCR forms for claims processing and state data reporting, as well as interface with other health-data systems.
“AdvanceCare’s enhanced NEMSIS 3 platform automates the accurate and timely submission of state data,” said Billy Craft, AdvanceCare product director at MedaPoint. “It also streamlines claims handling by creating more complete information gleaned from configuration and data-capture features.”
The new cloud-based, mobile ePCR works either as a standalone solution, or integrates with MedaPoint’s AdvanceDispatchTM and AdvanceClaimTM applications, as well as with third-party dispatch and billing systems, to facilitate the management of the complete patient-care cycle. “This is an exciting development for our customers who have been waiting for a NEMSIS 3 compliant ePCR to work in harmony with our CAD and billing solutions,” said Craft.
Priority Patient Transport based in Harrisonburg, Virginia is a longtime customer of MedaPoint. “We’ve benefitted from the seamless communication between AdvanceDispatch and AdvanceClaim for years now,” explained Steve Higgins, executive vice president at Priority Patient Transport, “and we’re excited about AdvanceCare, the connecting piece. No longer will there be duplication of data entry or the need to move data between systems.
Automated NEMSIS importing will allow us to efficiently complete call intake, dispatch, and patient care documentation while simultaneously verifying data at each step, supporting efforts to create a clean, accurate and compliant claim. This way we are paid sooner, and we're able to assure regulatory compliance and maintain clear and accurate patient care documentation.” continued Higgins. “That’s the beauty of the full integration.”
