Joe and Anna Woyjeck stopped on their way to Firehouse World to make a $10,000 donation to the Victorville, CA, Fire Department on behalf of the Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association.

Seal Beach,CA - The Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association stopped at the Victorville, CA, Fire Department on their way to the Firehouse World 2020 in Las Vegas.

Victorville Capt. Jordan Cope is helping this department start a fire explorer program and reached out to the Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association for support.

Joe and Anna Woyjeck, parents of fallen firefighter Kevin Woyjeck, presented a $2,000 check to Victorville that will be used to purchase boots, gloves and other equipment to support their fire explorer program. The Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association also donated 15 hoods, 10 pairs of ESS goggles, 10 pairs of gloves, 10 new Phenix First Due fire helmets, nine pairs of Pro Warrington structure boots and eight pairs of wildland boots. The donation totalled more than $10,000.

The association worked a booth at Firehouse World to raise awareness of their organization and offer support to fire explorer groups.

"Once we made contact with fire department personnel at Firehouse World they were pleasantly surprised that we were there to try to provide them a service at no cost," said Joe Woyjeck. "We especially enjoy helping underserved communities and with the exposure that we received at Firehouse World we will be able to help many young men and women in their pursuit of becoming a first responder."

Since it's inception the Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association has donated approximately $300,000 in scholarships and equipment to fire explorer programs across the nation.

About the Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association

The Kevin Woyjeck Explorers for Life Association is a non-profit organization started by Kevin Woyjeck’s parents, Joe and Anna Woyjeck. It was founded as a way to honor and carry on Kevin’s legacy after his line of duty passing, battling the Yarnell, AZ wildfire on June 30th, 2013, alongside 19 crewmates. KWEFLA helps young men and women successfully participate in fire career related explorer programs, just like Kevin did himself. Kevin truly enjoyed the explorer program and what it had to offer him in reaching his dreams. Fire explorer programs give young adolescents aging 15-21 years of age access to tools that help them follow their career goals, while shadowing real firefighters volunteering their time to teach and pass on knowledge. It fosters a priceless on-hand learning environment.
