Former CT Firefighter Accused of Sexual Assault

Police say the former Goshen firefighter/EMT provided the teen with alcohol at the fire station and took her on a joyride in an ambulance.

Police say a former Goshen firefighter/EMT sexually assaulted a teen who he first provided alcohol at the fire station and then took on a drunken joyride in an ambulance.

Daniel David Brignolo, 25, of Torrington was charged by the Connecticut State Patrol with second-degree sexual assault and providing a minor with alcohol after the 2021 incident. He was a member of the Goshen Fire Department for five years.

In June 2021, Rain cancelled plans for a Bonfire when Brignolo and the woman went to a firehouse, according to WFSB.

“While at the firehouse, Daniel Brignolo went into the department fridge and gave me two White Claw drinks,” according to the arrest warrant.

Police said the two went on a joyride in an ambulance and then returned to Brignolo's house and said she kept blacking after drinking. She said he made multiple sexual advances during the evening.

When she woke up, she was in pain and went to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital where hospital staff called the police to investigate a sexual assault.

In statements to police, Brignolo, who had been with Goshen’s fire department for five years, admitted to taking an ambulance out with the victim.

“I know it was a stupid idea. I mean, I got in trouble for it. But I said yes, and we went for a quick ride,” Brignolo told police.

The Goshen fire chief removed Bringolo from the department in June 2021 and then he served with the Litchfield Volunteer Ambulance Service until he was placed on administrative leave this week.

He turned himself in to police and was given a court date on Aug. 16.
