Cincinnati Fire Department at Center of Sexual Assault Suit

March 13, 2024
The female firefighter claims the Cincinnati lieutenant who raped her during the hiring process retired instead of being punished.

A female firefighter has filed a federal lawsuit against the Cincinatti Fire Department claiming her sexual assault claims were ignored.

During the hiring process in 2018, she was raped by a lieutenant, according to WLWT.

After an internal probe about the incident, the lieutenant retired after he was told the charges would be substantiated. He was never punished by the department, the suit says.

When she reported another sexual assault in 2022, she said she was retaliated against.

The city, she says, is aware of the "boys club mentality."
