PORTSMOUTH — A South Webster man’s bond for aggravated vehicular homicide in the crash death of a Beaver firefighter has been set at $1 million.
John Moore, 37, of Lick Run Lyra Road, was involved in a crash Sunday, Feb. 2, that killed Logan Warren, 25, of Waverly, who worked as a firefighter/EMS for the Village of Beaver. Warren leaves behind his parents, grandparents, siblings and many friends and loved ones. He had been a firefighter for five years.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Feb. 2 crash occurred on Ohio 220 near Industrial Park Drive in Pike County. Warren, of Waverly, was driving southbound on Ohio 220 in a 2017 Dodge Challenger and Moore was northbound in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. Moore went left of center, hitting Warren’s vehicle. Warren died at the scene. Moore was taken to Adena Pike Medical Center for treatment, then to Grant Medical Center.
Moore was taken to the Pike County Jail after discharge from Grant. He is still there as of press deadline.
Moore is believed to have been under the influence at the time of the crash.
According to Warren’s obituary, Moore was drunk at the time of the crash: “Logan lost his life in a car accident caused by a drunk driver, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply.”
Moore was found not guilty of murder on Jan. 16 at the conclusion of a jury trial in Scioto County. That case involved the shooting death of Joseph Morris, the father of Moore’s ex-girlfriend. Morris and his daughter were at Moore’s Lick Run Lyra Road home to retrieve her belongings when he was shot.
