Fire Damages Vegas Emergency Room

LAS VEGAS -- A fire that started in the emergency room of Valley Hospital Tuesday night was ruled an arson by investigators, who have charged an unidentified Las Vegas man. Officials at the hospital said the man was waiting for treatment when he set fire to his hospital bed using a lighter. He was rushed to University Medical Center and treated for burns to his upper body before being booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

A fire that started in the emergency room of Valley Hospital Tuesday night was ruled an arson by investigators, who have charged an unidentified Las Vegas man.

Officials at the hospital said the man was waiting for treatment when he set fire to his hospital bed using a lighter.

He was rushed to University Medical Center and treated for burns to his upper body before being booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Authorities have not said why they think he started the fire, which caused $700 damage to Valley Hospitals emergency room.
