Oct. 04--Madison County officials have found suspected human remains in the rubble of a burned cabin where the homeowner has been missing since last week, Coroner Jim Cornelison said.
Cornelison said Thursday that the state medical examiner's office was examining the remains, which were found Wednesday.
Walter Liebengood, 57, of Richmond has been missing from the Whitlock Road home near the Kentucky River since Sept. 26, when fire destroyed the cabin, Kentucky State Police said in a news release.
Police opened a missing-person case for Liebengood after the search of the residence was exhausted. Liebengood was last seen on Sept. 25 at his home, the news release said.
Cornelison said that at this point, he doesn't know whether foul play is involved.
"All options are open," he said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Richmond post at (859) 623-2404.
