Aug. 27--One firefighter was treated and released from IU Health Bloomington Hospital after battling a mobile home fire Tuesday evening.
High temperatures reached 91 degrees late Tuesday afternoon. Medics checked members of the Bloomington, Bloomington Township and Ellettsville fire departments for heat exhaustion and passed out bottled water at the scene of the fire.
According to Bloomington Township fire investigators, the fire started on a couch propped outside a mobile home, at 408 N. Kimble Drive, and spread inside the residence.
As firefighters arrived before 7 Tuesday evening, heavy smoke was billowing from the mobile home and the fire had spread to the roof, said Sgt. Jeremy Goad of the Bloomington Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the mobile home is considered a total loss.
The residents of the mobile home were safely out of the residence.
