N.Y. Firefighter Charged with Brush Fire

The East Fishkill firefighter was charged with arson.

A New York firefighter has been charged in connection with a brush fire.

Nicholas C. Hughes, 24, a firefighter with the East Fishkill Fire Department, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, willfully setting a forest fire, and fifth-degree arson, according to The Poughkeepsie Journal.  

The April 15 blaze happened near the Dutchess Rail Trail in Wappinger. It took nine departments to extinguish it.
