WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --After authorities just missed him in New York, the suspect in the quadruple homicide in Northwest D.C. was taken into custody in Northeast D.C. late Thursday night.
Daron Dylon Wint, age 34, was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue Northeast at about 11 p.m. according to police.
Wint is charged with first degree felony murder while armed, police said.
Wint was a passenger in a Chevy Cruise when officials were able to stop the vehicle and arrest him, according to officials. Multiple people were taken into custody at the scene, officials said.
Savvas, his wife Amy, 46, son Phillip, 10, and housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa, 57, were found dead in the family's burning home on Woodland Drive on May 14.
Wint was identified as the suspect after detectives found his DNA on a leftover pizza crust at the home. Police say he ordered Domino's Pizza while he held the family and their housekeeper hostage overnight.
Wint has a long record, and Maryland takes DNA samples from every suspect arrested in a violent crime, and of people convicted of serious crimes, even burglary.
