Two Firefighters Injured at Indianapolis Arson Fire

Two firefighters were injured while battling a two-alarm fire on Indianapolis' northeast side Wednesday night.

Fire was showing from the vacant apartment building at East 42nd Street and North Brentwood Drive when crews around 8:30 p.m., according to fox59.com.

As the fire spread, sections of the vacant building collapsed. 

A Lawrence firefighter received a cut to the hand an an Indianapolis firefighter was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital for a shoulder injury.

Indianapolis police and fire officials told the television station that the fire was intentionally set.

Neighbors say squatters have been occupying the structure since it went vacant a year ago.

Two firefighters were slightly injured at the scene. One Lawrence firefighter cut his hand on a door; he was treated and released at the scene. An Indianapolis firefighter strained his shoulder and was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital.
