More than 170 firefighters battled a massive fire at a food processing plant in South Los Angeles Monday night.
According to KTLA TV 5, the fire apparently started in the kitchen area of the single-story building but quickly spread through duct work into the attic of the building.
Fire officials on the scene told the television station they believed it was a meat processing plant and storage facility and that it was a half involved in fire Monday night. No injuries were reported.
Explosions, thought to be propane tanks on forklifts igniting, were heard during the battle, the station reported. Two HazMat tasks forces were working on the scene to identify chemicals in and around the plant.
As of 11 p.m. Pacific Time, the fire was declared knocked down and the cause of the fire was under investigation, according to the TV station.
