An early morning house fire in Alcoa Sunday left six people dead.
Alcoa firefighters were called to the North Wright Road home at 5:24 a.m. and found heavy fire engulfing the one-story home.
Within five to eight minutes, Alcoa Fire Department Chief Roger Robinson said the flames "were brought under control enough to do search and rescue," according to the Knoxville News.
Robinson said firefighters pulled four people from the home and police and EMS crews performed CPR before rushing at least two of them to the hospital.
Two bodies were recovered inside the home in what Robinson called the worst tragedy of his 39-year career.
Alcoa Police Chief David Carswell added that the investigation "will be slow, deliberate, methodical."
A family member identified the victims as Raymond Mishoe and his wife, Patricia Mishoe; their daughter, Olivia Mishoe and her fiancee, David Morgan; and their two sons, 6-year-old Aiden and 5-year-old Jaxen.
Neighbors told the newspaper that the owner had been trying to evict the residents since last summer.
