Firefighters in Westbrook were knocked back by an explosion as they fought a fire in a dentistry office Sunday night. The firefighters were not hurt.

According to a report broadcast by local television station WMTW 8 ABC, the fire was first discovered when neighbors heard what sounded like an explosion in the Nano Dentistry Office.

The fire spread to an apartment on the second floor where several people lived.

The explosion, which shook homes in the area, were likely fueled by oxygen or nitrogen, the TV station reported.

There was no immediate word on what caused the blaze.
