Man Dies after Fire at Muskegon, MI, Senior Living Facility

Firefighters found the 74-year-old man on the third floor of the Muskegon Township senior living facility.

MUSKEGON TWP., MI – A 74-year-old man has died after being rescued from a fire at a senior living community in Muskegon Township Friday night, the township’s police department said.

The Muskegon Township Police Department was among several area police and fire departments that responded to the scene of the fire, which is still under investigation.

The fire occurred at around 10 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at Pine Grove Manor, located at 1764 E. Apple Ave. in Muskegon Township, Muskegon Township Deputy Fire Chief Butch Attig said.

The victim of the fire was found in the hallway of the third floor of the 9-story building after already being severely burned, the Muskegon Township Police Department said in a statement on Saturday, April 12.

The officers who found the man carried him to safety, and he was cared for by medics at the scene.

The man was transported to a nearby Trinity Health location for immediate care. He was then airlifted to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids where he died as a result of his injuries.
