Shooting Victims Crash Car into Birmingham, AL, Fire Station

Feb. 7, 2024
No firefighters were injured and the impact did not break the bay door.

Two shooting victims - a male and a female - were rushed to the hospital after they hit a Birmingham fire station while they were seeking help.

The incident happened just after 6:30 p.m.

The shooting happened outside the Shell station on the corner of Springville Road and Brewster Road.

Those inside the sedan are believed to have been seeking medical attention when they crashed into one of the bay doors at Station 30, which is about a half block away.

The impact did not break down the door.

Because it wasn’t immediately clear what was taking place, an alert was issued indicating a potential threat or danger to a firefighter. That alert drew a massive first responder response to east Birmingham fire station, with police cars and Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service vehicles lining Springville Road.

Birmingham Fire Chief Cory Moon said there were no firefighters injured when the vehicle struck the building.

The alert was cleared a short time later

Both victims were transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham by BRFS.

It was not immediately clear if anybody else was in the vehicle.

This story will be updated if more information becomes available.
