Ambulance at Liberty Hill, TX, Fire Station Will Improve Response Times

April 12, 2024
The idea of locating an EMS crew in the station has been discussed for several years as the population grows.

With an ambulance and crew now housed at Liberty Hill Fire Station No. 2, response times are expected to be cut in half.

The population has nearly tripled since 2020 and more developments are planned, according to KVUE

"Response times are going to be improved, especially north on Ronald Regan, all the way to 195," explained Paramedic Katherine Shockome, one of six paramedics assigned to the fire station.

Response times are expected to go from 10 to 12 minutes to 5 to 7 minutes for people in the Santa Rita Ranch Area.

Williamson County EMS Director Mike Knipstein said the idea of placing an ambulance and crew in the fire station has been discussed for several years.

He added that the ambulance and medics will cost $1 million to operate for the first year, and additional years will cost $800,000.
