Clayton, Mo., Firefighters' Custom Engine Featured at FDIC
The KME Predator pumper purchased by the Clayton, Mo., Fire Department was featured in KME's booth at the Fire Department Instructors' Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Ind. The pumper is powered by a Cummins ISL 9 450-hp engine and an Allison 3000EVS transmission. The cab has a 22-inch raised roof with seating for five with four SCBA seats. It also has a 20-inch front bumper extension, frontal impact occupant protection, an EMS cabinet in the cab as well as a transverse cab storage compartment with USSC Valor seating and a David Clark Intercom system.
To fight fire, it has a Hale Qmax 1,500-gpm pump, a 750-gallon polypropylene tank, a Class 1 Ultra View Digital pump panel on the driver's and officer's side as well as a Class 1 Sentry pressure governor and a belly pan booster reel.
The body is constructed of 12 gauge galvanneal steel, ladder storage at waist height, full height/full depth compartments, a single 6,000 psi DOT storage cylinder with an air reel, and over 550 cubic feet of enclosed storage space. Other features include Whelen LED warning lights and traffic advisor, Fire Research LED scene lights, an Onan 10,000-watt hydraulic generator and a Will-Burt vertical light mast with FRC LED lights.
