Duane Hagelgans
Dr. Duane Hagelgans is an associate professor at Millersville University in Pennsylvania, teaching within the Center for Disaster Research and Education, where he teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in emergency management. He retired as a chief officer with the Lancaster City, PA, Bureau of Fire in 2011, and currently serves as fire commissioner for a regional fire service in Lancaster County, The Blue Rock Regional Fire District. Hagelgans has an associate degree in fire science technology, a bachelor’s in occupational safety and hygiene management form Millersville, and a juris doctorate. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar. Hagelgans has written and spoken extensively about disaster preparedness, and has been a presenter at local, state, national and international conferences.
