Following the final of season of his firefighter drama "Rescue Me" this summer, actor/comedian Denis Leary is set to co-write and produce a new paramedic television series, according to Deadline.com.

The show will be based on the British series "Sirens" and will appear on the USA Network. This will be Leary's third public-safety themed series. However, he does not plan to star in this project, as he did for "Rescue Me" and his earlier cop comedy, "The Job," Deadline.com reports.

The original UK "Sirens" series was inspired by the book, Blood, Sweat and Tea by paramedic Tom Reynolds, which revolves around a trio of paramedics who "bicker, fight and shag their way through the darkly funny maelstrom of their lives."

The seventh and final season of "Rescue Me" premieres on the FX Network July 13.
