SEATTLE, Wash. --

Firefighters have put out a fire that burned in a Seattle Housing Authority high-rise building near Green Lake and Interstate 5 in North Seattle, reported KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.

The blog My Green Lake.com posted the following information from its Twitter account.

"Speaking with resident of apt unit on fire. She says fire was caused by her smoking."

"She put cigarette in ashtray, thought it was out, but it wasn't. Came home and saw smoke billowing out door."

"She is safe, and got her dog out too. Dragged him down 11 flights."

Side streets are blocked in the area and cars are slowing on Interstate 5.

Chopper video shows people stopping and getting out of their vehicles on a nearby overpass.
