Kentucky Crews Respond to Small Plane Crash

The only person in the plane was the pilot, who was injured and taken to the hospital.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --

Metro Police and emergency crews are on the scene of a small plane crash in the Broadfields neighborhood in St. Matthews.

Louisville Fire Chief Greg Frederick said the plane took off from Bowman Field and landed upside down around 9:40 a.m. in the backyard of a house on Hughes Rd.

Frederick said the only person in the plane was the pilot, who was injured and taken to the hospital.

Frederick said the plane lost power after taking off.

Several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
